Fly High "Poppa" Ray...

Mr. Nelson Ray or “Poppa” was my neighbor who lived down the dirt road from my grandparent’s property. He used to drive by every day on his riding lawnmower to check the mail and he would always wave to my family. Sometimes, he would stop and talk to us, but he would always have us laughing with tears in our eyes due to the jokes he would tell us. He was a good man and he knew how to make you laugh, even when you were having a really bad day.

Mr. “Poppa Ray loved family, his home, his projects, fishing, hunting, his plants, and talking to his friends. He was a wise and wonderful man who will be missed, but most of all I think I will miss his jokes and stories about his childhood. My heart goes out to his family and his friends who are in mourning tonight and in need of comfort after losing such a wonderful spirit in this world. May he fly high and be reunited with his loved ones who passed on before him, while his family remembers his legacy.

He will be missed by so many people, but especially by me because I will miss our phone calls. I feel blessed to have known him.

Rest In Peace…Mr. Nelson W. Ray “Poppa”
